Ape is how this group refers to themselves. They will sometimes describe themselves as "retards'. Rest assured, neither term is an insult. The mission is simple and clear 1. Buy AMC Stock. 2. Hold (HODL) AMC stock. At some point there will be a "squeeze' wherein shares will become more valuable due to the Hedgefunds need to buy them.
And by more valuable they mean that the stock could hit whatever price they determine. A widely accepted target price is $100,000 per share but on this topic the Apes are not entirely united.
The Apes did not choose AMC. The greedy sob's on Wall Street targeted the company for financial ruin. After the pandemic, the Hedefund managers started to make "bets", LARGE bets that AMC would fail. It's called "shorting " a stock. This is a mean practice but it is not illegal. What iS illegal is "naked shorting". Wall Street decided
Wall Street decided a long time ago that they are above the law so they continued to naked short AMC. To add insult to injury, they paid the media (CNBC, MARKETWATCH, MOTLEY FOOL)) ETC to produce bad news and fake outlooks on the company. All of this was going pretty swimmingly for them until.. a few apes got together and decided toW stand up for our beloved movie theaters. They started buying the stock. When the price goes up, the hedgefunds have to pay, not get paid. And so began a war of sorts. A battle good and evil really. The evil hedgefunds are illegally trying to destory a perfectly great company against a bunch of " Apes" who are exceedingly strong in numbers but not as rich as the hf. They continue to fight this battle until the hedgefunds have to account for their dirty deeds AND have to buy back all the phantom shares they created. The tide is turning and it appears the Apes may just win!
If you are an Ape, you strive to have "diamond hands". This is the opposite of "paper hands". Paper hands sell for a few cents on the share. Diamond Hands won't sell until the stock reaches somewhere between $1,000-$10,000 per share.
